Abdullah Omran Taryam

Abdullah Omran Taryam: One of the prominent statesmen, born in the Emirate of Sharjah in 1948, and received his primary, preparatory and secondary education in the schools of Sharjah and Kuwait, after which he obtained a BA in history from the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University in 1966 and a PhD in modern history from the University of Exeter in the Kingdom United States in 1986. He worked as a teacher at Al Urouba High School for two years, then as Director of Education in Sharjah during the period 1968-1971. He was a member of the negotiating team to establish the union state on behalf of the Emirate of Sharjah. Then he was Minister of Justice in the first federal government during the period 1971-1972, then Minister of Education. He was in the first federal government during the period 1972-1979, and he participated with his brother Tarim Omran in establishing Al Khaleej newspaper in 1970.
